How to transfer your image
- Prepare the plate: Place a pea-sized amount of black acrylic paint on your Gelli Arts® plate. Spread it with a brayer into a thin, even layer that fully covers the plate without being see-through.
- Apply the image: Place the printable face-down on the wet paint. Smooth gently with your fingers to remove air bubbles, without pressing too hard.
- Lift the image: Peel up one corner to check the transfer. Once ready, remove the sheet completely to reveal the design on the plate.
- Leave to dry: Allow the image on the plate to dry completely.
- Add a contrasting colour: Roll a thin, even layer of contrasting acrylic paint over the dried image. The image should remain faintly visible beneath the paint.
- Pull the print: Place a clean sheet of paper over the wet paint and press firmly and evenly across the surface. Wait about 10 minutes for the paint to dry.
- Reveal your print: Slowly peel the paper away from the plate to reveal your transferred image.
You can use different acrylic paints on your gel plate, so experiment with your favourite colours and print to your heart’s content.
