Fitting the clock mechanism
Once your decoration is finished and fully dry, insert the mechanism spindle through the central hole and secure with the washer and nut. Fit the short hour hand first, followed by the longer minute hand, then the seconds hand last. Add an AA battery to bring your finished clock to life.
For kiln-fired decoration
The ceramic face can also be decorated with suitable underglazes or glazes and fired in a kiln. Fit the mechanism and hands only after firing.
The supplier classifies this clock face as a thick/heavy piece. Their firing guidance recommends raising it off the kiln shelf using a combination of a stilt and prop, allowing approximately 1 inch of air beneath it to encourage more even heating and cooling and help reduce the risk of cracking.
